Why is the blank page so terrifying? I’m guessing it has less to do with filling the page with words and more to do with committing to actually starting a project. For the next thirty days I’ll be running a mini-workshop series over at our Writer on the Road Facebook page and it would be great if you can join me – you can access it here.
Each day I will be live for five minutes (or six when I get carried away) and then I want you to go away and write. You see, I have this wonderful theory, honed over twenty years of teaching creative writing, that the secret to writing a book is to sit down and do it. Yes, there are a plethora our ‘How to Write a Book in 90 Days’ type courses out there – and yes, I have one of those – but without good writing habits, you’ll be wasting your money.
So, I’ve decided to make it easy for you. For the next thirty days I’ll be your accountability partner. All you need to do is turn up and write. You can join our Facebook group here if you like, where we’ll work together, share our successes and confess to breaking our fledgling writing habit.
The simple act of accountability is a powerful motivator. Here at Writer on the Road we’re firm believers that everyone has a story to tell. And we also think it’s the journey that matters. So, join us for the next thirty days and I guarantee, that with persistence and the habit of sitting down to write, you will have your story ready to tell.
Oh, and feel free to join our mailing list and get your free copy of ‘The Voices in Your Head Writing Guidelines’.
That’s it for today, see you tomorrow. Happy writing.
