Brand Storytelling for Your Business – Top 20 Tips

Brand storytelling for businesses

  1. To be successful you need to be really, really good and you need to be prepared that the competition is going to be very good and fierce
  2. Make yourself available
  3. Millennials are a vast purchasing powerhouse and you can’t communicate with them in the traditional ways, so a lot of companies are trying new platforms and one of those working really well at the moment is Snapchat
  4. 80% of the internet will be video by 2018 and if you’re not producing video content or audio content like this you won’t have any cut through. Already Google gives you a higher ranking if you have a video attached to your story, so in two years’ time if everyone communicating is not doing either audio or video they will be way, way down the Google search rankings
  5. It’s about connection. It’s about feeling connected to someone and they will feel more connected to you if I can see what you look like, if I can go hey that person is around about the same age as me, they’re saying things that I agree with
  6. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to be genuine
  7. They have to trust you in order to come back and look again and start to follow you and once they have that connection with you they will follow you forever
  8. Analytics allows you to work out exactly when the best time to post something is and when you go down to that level that’s when you actually start to see the connection that will drive traffic and if you’re selling products it will help people consider your product. Your product still has to be good but all you can do with this kind of marketing is get people to consider it and once they consider it, then they’ll have a look and make a decision
  9. Analytics allows you to understand what people in your demographic are doing at a particular time and how best to reach them
  10. Analytics coupled with technology allows you to pop a video up that your ideal client is interested in that they’re more likely to watch because they’re interested in it
  11. It’s storytelling but it’s storytelling about your brand
  12. What makes your brand different is your story
  13. You’ll learn more about people by asking them questions and listening to them than you will ever learn by talking to them
  14. If you can listen and interpret people’s stories and then tell these stories in a way that’s engaging you’ll always have an audience
  15. It’s a fascinating story to be able to look at something and sum up in four or five words the emotions of a person
  16. The challenge of blogging is that you have to feed it
  17. Give yourself every opportunity to produce the best product you can. It will still come down to how you resonate with an audience, whether they like you, there’s always going to be the personal part to it but you might as well have all the technology as good as possible so that you can get the best result possible
  18. Give yourself the best chance to excel
  19. If you listen and learn from your mistakes there’s nothing wrong with making them because only in making mistakes will you understand how things need to be done
  20. Enjoy the journey
