Anyone for a career rescue?

I know, I know, the title’s provocative…we all want one, right? But it was only when I was speaking with Cassandra Gaisford, career coach, author and entrepreneur, that I started to wonder what a change in career would actually look like. The problem, you see, is that I’ve never had a career. I’ve measured success in other ways: my quality of life, my family, my art. But don’t listen to me, I’m fifty-four and broke. Happy, yes, but wondering if I should have chosen the easy route and settled for a career because, let’s face it, I’d be looking at retirement now and maybe a superannuation payout and a trip around the big paddock we fondly call Oz, calling myself a grey nomad and proud of it. No, wait, I am grey and I am travelling around Oz, broke and happy (with a superannuation payout in the shadows courtesy of a rather fickle ex-mine manager and…err…his secretary:))

But am I successful? Ah, therein lies the rub…

Welcome to the world of Cassandra Gaisford, who is not only the author of the #1 Amazon bestselling Mid-Life Career Change series but also author of the Art of Success, which looks at that most puzzling of all questions, what is success? During our podcast chat we meander from topic to topic as we ponder that pesky yet perennial question, what do we want out of these very short lives of ours?

Being free to make the right choices seems to be a fair answer. Following our passions and utiltising our creativity, another. For anything else, you may just need to read Cassandra’s book.
